Google has confirmed a YouTube picture-in-picture bug affecting some iPhone and Android users, where audio continues playing but the floating video player disappears. A fix is under development.

YouTube is aware of an issue on Android and iPhone where picture-in-picture (PiP) mode does not activate when closing the app.
