Just 15 runners lined up at the starting line for the first Boston Marathon in 1897. David Grilk hopes to get nearly that many robots to participate in a race he’s planning for Sunday, April 19, in Boston’s Seaport.
Boston Dynamics today announced it is partnering with Google Cloud and Google DeepMind to integrate Gemini and Gemini Robotics ER 1.6 into Orbit AIVI -Learning. The robotics developer said the integration will allow it to deliver a more sophisticated, intuitive, and powerful AI experience.
Robots such as Boston Dynamics’ four-legged Spot can now accurately read analog thermometers and pressure gauges while roaming around factories and warehouses. Those improvements come courtesy of Google DeepMind’s newest robotic AI model that aims to enhance robotic capabilities for ‘embodied reasoning’ when interacting with physical environments.
Boston Dynamics entered into a partnership with Google Cloud and its AI research lab, DeepMind, to integrate advanced AI capabilities into its robots. The collaboration will see Google's Gemini models embedded into Boston Dynamics' robot dog, Spot, and the AI visual inspections (AIVI) arm of its robot fleet management platform, Orbit.
Google DeepMind and Boston Dynamics are bringing Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6 to Spot, adding embodied reasoning for inspections, gauges, and facility tasks.
